Tape-In Extensions
with Caitlin Karst
What are Tape-In Extensions?
As the name suggests, tape-in extensions come with pre-taped wefts made of a medical-grade adhesive and are usually one inch wide. Similar to other type of hair extensions, tape-ins can be made of real human and Remy hair or synthetic hair.
After the backing of the adhesive is removed (like a sticker) a thin strip of your natural hair goes in between two strips, so your hair is essentially sandwiched in between the extensions. As the wefts are only an inch wide, it’s important to section the natural hair carefully, which is why a professional hand and eye is recommended, especially when applying tape-ins at the back of the head. As the adhesive base is very thin, tape-ins feel light, lay flat against your head, and blend in easily with natural hair.
The Ease of Tape-In Extensions
Tape-ins are considered semi-permanent. Typically, they last 4 – 8 weeks before you need to remove and re-apply them. Just like any other hair, however, it depends on how well you take care of them and on how quickly your hair grows.
Taking care of your extensions properly will extend their longevity and help you get the most of of your investment. These wefts can be re-used multiple times before new wefts are required.

To get started with Tape-In Extensions with Caitlin Karst, please book a 15 minute consultation to discuss color, length, and pricing.
After the initial install, clients are advised to come in for a “move-up” appointment every 6-10 weeks to ensure the integrity of the extensions and the clients own hair. This can be done at the same time as your hair color or cut appointment.
